Leaf Season Is In Full Color This Year!

Now is definitely the time to head up to the mountains to enjoy the vibrant colors of the autumn leaves!  It is said that 2011 will be an especially good year for soaking in the beauty of the Highlands, as slightly drier and cooler conditions in the months leading up to the Fall have produced a climate that is perfect for brilliant leaf color.

And if you are able to steal away to our area, plan a visit to nearby Grandfather Mountain.  On the weekends of October 8-9 and October 15-16 Grandfather’s Interpretive Rangers and Naturalists will offer “The Colors of Grandfather” guided walks at 1 p.m., leading guests through woodlands populated by many different species of hardwoods, while providing an opportunity to learn more about the phenomenon of leaf change and about Grandfather Mountain’s unique ecosystem.
